Over these years, Epson has refined this 17" platform to meet the demands of customers seeking the highest quality prints for commercial production, all within a desktop form factor.

EPSON SureColor P5370 vs. EPSON SureColor P5000

The SureColor P5370 succeeds the popular SureColor P5000 after its six-year tenure. It joins the SureColor P900 as Epson's offering for the 17" photo market. So, what's new with the SureColor P5370, how does it compare to the outgoing P5000, and what sets it apart from the P900?

Let's start with a quick feature comparison with the outgoing SureColor P5000. While the SureColor P5370 and P5000 share the same footprint and nearly identical body design, the P5370 boasts some subtle yet noticeable changes. Firstly, it now supports Wi-Fi connectivity. Additionally, it features a 4.3" touchscreen panel incorporated into Epson's latest printers, along with compatibility with Epson PORT for monitoring and reporting printer usage.

However, the true improvements lie under the hood of the Epson SureColor P5370. One significant enhancement is the introduction of dedicated Matte and Photo Black channels. Users no longer need to switch between these two inks when transitioning between matte and glossy papers, addressing a common frustration with the SureColor P5000.

The dedicated Matte and Photo Black channels mark the beginning of a 10-color pigment ink set on the SureColor P5370, including CMYK, Matte Black, Photo Black, LC, LM, Gray, Lt Gray, and Violet. This eliminates the need for customers to choose between a photo-oriented or proofing-focused ink set, streamlining the printing process.

For photographers and artists, Epson's testing reveals that the Violet ink in the P5370 enhances blue hues while delivering outstanding black and white photographic prints with three levels of black and gray inks. Another notable advancement is the new 10-channel AMC Printhead, capable of firing ink drops as small as 1.5 pl, contributing to better gradation and finer details.

EPSON SureColor P5370 vs. Epson SureColor P900

Comparing the SureColor P5370 with the SureColor P900, both printers share the same 10-channel AMC Printhead known for its reliability, even during extended periods of printer inactivity, thanks to an ink repelling coating that reduces nozzle clogs. Moreover, they utilize the same 10-color ink set, offering up to 400 years of lightfastness.

However, while the ink set is shared, the SureColor P5370 utilizes larger 200 ml ink cartridges, four times the size of those found on the SureColor P900, resulting in a more competitive ink cost.
